Ted graduated from Queensland University in 1982. After working for 2 years in Dysart, a rural town 240km North west of Rockhampton he moved to Mackay at Pioneer Dental. Working in private practice for many years has given Ted great experience to pass on to his patients.
He enjoys post graduate training in a wide variety of areas. His focus is on quality dentistry which includes placing and restoring implants and also has a special interest in making snore devices for patients.Ted is also an accredited clinical supervisor for the JCU 5th year dental students in Mackay.
In life outside dentistry he is married with three children, one of whom has followed his footsteps in dentistry. He and his wife enjoy competitive sailing. He likes to keep fit and also plays an active role in his church’s activities.
Dr Peter Mc Cowan graduated from the University of Qld in 1981. He began his career at a small practice in Mt Isa.
After working there for 1 year he decided to move to Mackay where he worked for a couple of years before accepting a entist position in the Australian Navy for something a little different and the adventure.
After 3 years in the navy, Peter decided to return to Mackay into private practice at Pioneer Dental where he has remained since.Peter enjoys continuing his dental education and providing his patients with high quality, up to date dentistry, including implants.
Outside of work Peter’s hobbies are boating, spear fishing, surfing, stand-up paddle boarding and golf.
Sue graduated from the University of London in 1988 and went on to do a year postgraduate training in general practice. After working for two more years, she started her own practice in a small village in Dorset, on the south coast of England. Having had two children, she and her husband decided to move the family to Queensland, where many of her father’s family live.
Sue has lived and worked in Mackay for 12 years, mostly part time, while her children were at school. She has also enjoyed two mission trips to Ukraine and one to Fiji, where she was able to deliver dental care to people who would otherwise be unable to access it. Recently, she also travelled to Collinsville and Winton, with the Royal Flying Doctor Service, working as part of their Mobile Dental team.
Outside of work, Sue is an active member of local theatre groups and of her church. For relaxation, she reads or takes the family’s two dogs for walks on the beach.
